The Superior Traditional Hamper – Taste Test
When we told the office that we had a hamper full of luxury goodies to taste and review from The British Hamper Company, suffice to say it generated a lot of interest and excitement! The Superior Traditional Hamper was perfect for us to try, containing a variety of tantalising sweet and savoury gourmet foods that could be shared amongst colleagues.
Amongst the range of tempting – and soon to be devoured – treats were melt-in-the-mouth, all butter shortbread cookies. These cookies are sourced from Devon and made with real British butter. They were so luxurious and the perfect accompaniment with a cup of tea or coffee!
Willie’s Cacao – Milk of the Gods and Venezuelan Gold Chocolate
We next set our sights on the silky-smooth offerings of Willie’s Cacao milk and dark chocolate squares. They were rich and indulgent with subtle notes of coffee in the milk chocolate and a slight nuttiness in the dark chocolate – both very enjoyable.
This led us nicely onto the delicious Cotswold fudge. These were a firm favourite amongst our staff and didn’t last long! A great sugary delight that oozes quality and luxury as it crumbles in the mouth.
Hawkshead Relish (Jam)
We were quite excited about the Hawkshead Raspberry and Vanilla Relish (Jam), and everyone enjoyed a splotch with our Monday morning croissants. This handmade jam had just the right balance of fruit and sweetness. Our weekly meetings will never be the same again!
Red Onion Chutney & Cheddar Biscuits
We were impressed to discover the origins of each product within our superior hamper. The rich and tangy Red Onion Chutney is produced by Surrey born and bred chef Patrick Le Mesurier. The All British Cheddar Biscuits are made with Wookey Hole caved-aged cheddar from Dorset. They are also the perfect combination; delightfully moreish and rich!
We also sampled the Red Hot Chilli Crackers from Miller’s Elements and despite the name, the heat from these savoury crackers wasn’t overbearing. They have a nice warmth and would work so well with cream cheese (and the red onion chutney!).
Sweet Apple Crisps
Moving onto something a little sweeter – and also a little healthier – we tried the air dried Sweet Apple Crisps. We felt that they would be the perfect nibble for people of all ages, and at less than 1% fat we certainly weren’t complaining.
Hickory Smoked Nuts
Last but by no means least, we tried the Hickory Smoked Nuts. They are a mixture of the finest quality almonds and cashew nuts. Traditionally the nuts are smoked over hickory woodchips in a brick kiln, and their intense flavour really comes through. They would be perfect with a glass of Riesling!
The Superior Traditional Hamper was bursting with interesting and enjoyable foods, and there was something for everyone’s tastes. They cater for all types of occasions and diets; everything from birthday and anniversary gifts, gluten-free and diabetic produce as well as personalised corporate hampers and of course Christmas. If you’re looking for a distinctive gift that has an extra special touch, look no further than The British Hamper Company.
