Dine in the magnificent caves at La Jarnoterie and a troglodye cave near Saumur. Enjoy superb wine tastings with 3D vignerons from Saumur, St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil and Anjou. Take in the views of spectacular scenery and striking châteaux.
Staying in one of our favourite hotels we will be ideally placed to take in the delights of this region.
We begin our weekend on a Thursday evening with a tasting by Jean-Albert Mary from Domaine de la Cune of his award-winning Saumur wines. Jean-Albert then joins us for dinner along with more of his delicious wines.
On Friday morning we head off to St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil to meet Carine and Dider Rezé at La Jarnoterie. We enjoy a memorable tour and tasting of their wines deep down under the vines in their family cellar, the impressive Caves de Cochamtorille. Here we join them for a memorable lunch in their magnificent private banqueting chamber dominated by a huge circular stone table, overlooked by an enormous fireplace.
Saturday morning we visit one of our Anjou vineyards, makers of delicious Crémant de Loire and Coteaux du Layon wines. Lunch is either at a delightful restaurant near Saumur called Les Caves de Genevraie, this is no ordinary restaurant, it is a troglodyte cave restaurant hewn from the local hillside, or in alternate years we travel to Anjou for lunch and a visit to the famous Chateau where the remnants of the Tapestry of the Apocolypse can be found.
INCLUDES: 3 nights’ accommodation at La Croix Blanche; dinner (with wine) on Thursday, Friday & Saturday; lunch Friday & Saturday (with wine) and all wine tastings and activities. Coach transport both days.
