About the vines & wine:

Your vines are situated in the famous Côte d’Or region. Literally this means golden slopes and with good reason as this is an area blessed with some of the greatest geography and geology of all. This is what the French call ‘terroir’ when referring to the situation of their vineyards. And this situation, on the boundary between the Côte de Nuits in the north and the Côte de Beaune in the south is perfect for growing some of the most elegant Chardonnay around.

Vincent Désertaux makes Partner’s award-winning wine from mostly Chardonnay grapes blended with a little old vine Pinot Blanc his grandfather planted after World War I. It is a lightly-oaked white burgundy that has astonishing depth and spicy complexity.

The Désertaux family have been winemakers for generations. Vincent is now in charge. He is incredibly talented and highly respected in the region.

About the region:

The Côte d’Or is a continuous slope of about 50 km where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines enjoy some of the greatest terroir on earth. It is the limestone soil, cool climate and a thousand years of knowhow which makes this region’s wines so very special. The centre of the region, both geographically and spiritually, is Beaune. It’s a very special town – in the summer it is ‘a-buzz’ with tourists from all over the world enjoying the lovely atmosphere, ancient cobbled streets, beautiful architecture and fabulous gastronomy.

Our annual Taste of Burgundy Weekend takes place in June each year. We are based in the beautiful, ancient wine capital of Beaune. It’s a wonderfully lively place with over 100 restaurants, and endless cafés and bars where you can sit outside, soak up the atmosphere and people watch. There is some marvellous architecture there too; ancient houses with brightly coloured tiled roofs dating back to the mid-15th century. The iconic Hospice de Beaune is a fantastic example of this and is well worth a visit.

Our event involves a visit to a local barrel maker to see the fascinating artisanal skills of a Tonellèrie. It also involves tasting Premier Cru Meursault within the famous vineyard itself with your award-winning winemaker Vincent Désertaux, eating in many superb restaurants and picnicking with the Jacob family at Domaine Lucien Jacob high up in the hills above their vineyards. The views are stunning, the food and wine is memorable and the company is unforgettable. A weekend you will always remember!
