A Privileged Insight Into This Beautiful, Mystical Region.
You are invited to join us on a journey to Burgundy; an ancient wine region and gastronomic heart of France. It’s an action-packed few days as we stay in the heart of the famous wine town of Beaune. Our base will be the delightful Hôtel de la Cloche – a 16th Century former coaching inn.We dine with our local vignerons in the Caves de l’Abbaye, a 12th-Century wine cellar. We’ll enjoy a memorable picnic amongst the vines at Domaine Lucien Jacob with magnificent views from on high.
A visit to the world famous tonnellerie Francois Freres provides a fascinating insight into how barrels are made. A tasting of Meursault 1er Cru in the vineyard overlooking the handsome town gives a very special perspective. Great food, great wine and memorable characters are very much a feature of this weekend in one of the most iconic wine regions of all.
We then head back to Beaune for a little free time to explore this stunning town and enjoy a spot of lunch before taking a coach to the world-renowned appellation of Meursault.
Our engaging winemaker Vincent Désertaux meets us in his small, but beautifully-formed Premier Cru vineyard for an ‘in the vines’ tasting before heading for his domaine for a special tour and tasting of his brilliantly made wines.
In the evening we dine at the excellent Restaurant Caveau des Arches in Beaune.
Saturday we head off to the delightful hamlet of Échevronne, home to the Jacob family. Jean-Michel Jacob talks us through a very special tasting of some of their top wines in their ancient cellars. We then enjoy a lovely picnic overlooking the Les Larrets vineyard with Jean-Michel and Christine accompanied by their delicious wines.
In the evening we continue to enjoy fine Burgundy gastronomy with a relaxing, light dinner at Le Conty in Beaune.
